Born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 1987, Urška Rednak graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in 2014. During her studies she participated in numerous group exhibitions and was awarded Zois scholarship for gifted students. In her painting, the artist deals with the relationships between text and image, between the tactile and visual. In her works, the embroidery of wool on canvas crosses from a two-dimensional surface into a three-dimensional art space, and creates an interesting relief on the surface. In her works tactile surfaces of woollen threads intertwine with acrylic surfaces and other media. These shapes are becoming abstract, colourful, looking for spaces in their unusual compositions, thus resembling a collage. Similarly, the artist with repetitive gestures of embroidery wins old and traditional, and translates the latter into a contemporary painting image. Today Urška lives and works in Ljubljana.
